Dallas, TX is home to one of the most popular zoos in the US. Dallas World Aquarium is situated in downtown Dallas and aids as a conservational, educational, and tourist attraction center. Since 1997, the zoo has been among the global Association of Zoos & Aquariums. Dallas World Aquarium was established in 1992 inside an old warehouse that had been rebuilt. Several years later, an adjacent warehouse was similarly rebuilt and connected via an alley between.

In 2000 the aquarium bought a vacant lot near the original warehouse to cater for new construction (Mundo Maya exhibit) that opened in 2004.

Levels & Attractions

Dallas World Aquarium features an upper and lower level. The upper level has an artificial replica of a rainforest (Orinoco). The rainforest features birds like toucans and scarlet ibis flying freely. It also has winding passages perfect for exploration. The upper level is home to the only public showcase of 3-toed sloths. Other endangered species include Antillean manatees, caecilians, electric eels, poison dart frogs, tamarins, vampire bats, and Orinoco crocodiles.

The aquarium’s lower level is home to the aquarium, which has jellyfish coral. Sea anemones, fish, and other sea creatures found globally. The aquarium features ten main tanks with aquatic life from different countries and locations. Tourists can expect to see unique aquatic life from Japan, British Columbia, Bahamas, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Australia, Solomon Islands, and Lord Howe Island. Other lower-level tanks have unique fish such as continental shelves swimming around. The aquarium has numerous tanks, among them being a large tank featuring a 12-meter (40-foot) tunnel.

Dallas World Aquarium is a joint venture between corporations, local companies, and the public school district in Dallas. These institutions work together in many aspects of the aquarium’s operations. For instance, many employees are full-time students.
