East Libbey Avenue In A Brief

East Libbey Avenue is an older neighborhood in downtown Fort Worth. Vickery Boulevard is the southern border of the community. Chisholm Trail Parkway, a major tollway, is just south of Vickery, while the Clear Fork of the Trinity River is south of this. Highway 377, also called Camp Bowie Boulevard, is several blocks to the north. Horne Street is the western edge of the neighborhood. This connects residents to Vickery and Camp Bowie.

Collette Park borders Vickery, while Lake Como Park sits at the northeastern corner of the neighborhood. Lake Como itself is on the northern end of the park. Goodman Park is in the middle of the community.

The biggest commercial district in the area sits at the intersection of Bryant Irvin Road and Camp Bowie. Yet you can go a short distance north and hit Interstate 30 to get to the rest of the metroplex rather quickly. You can take one of the bridges across the toll road to get to the Shops at Clear Fork, but there are fewer connections except for Hulen Street to get you across the Trinity River. There is another large commercial development at Hulen Street and I-30. This is also where Arlington Heights High School is located; most East Libbey neighborhood students are assigned there. The Marcos Santos Academy is in walking distance. You can take Hulen Avenue south to the Fort Worth Country Day School. That is often considered one of the best private schools in Fort Worth. Students may attend the Leadership Academy at Como Elementary or the Rivertree Academy. Como Elementary students move on to Monnig Middle School.

This neighborhood is a short distance from the Ridglea Country Club. That area is far more upscale than the working class East Libbey neighborhood. Yet it attracts many who want to live within a 15-minute drive of downtown Fort Worth. This makes it ideal for those who work at Cook Children’s Medical Center or Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
