Cultural District Neighborhood In Fort Worth TX

Cultural District In A Brief

Fort Worth has received the title of the museum capital of the Southwest. Why? The Fort Worth Cultural District is home to half a dozen major museums. The list includes the Kimbell Art Museum, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and the Modern Art Museum. That’s why the area is known for Museum Way. Less famous museums here include the National Cowgirl Museum and Cattle Raisers Museum; these tie into the cattle industry that was the heart of the city. And that legacy remains part of the city today. For example, the Will Rogers Memorial Center hosts the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Casa Manana is nearby.

The Cultural District is several miles west of downtown Fort Worth and the 7th Street Corridor, the place you want to be if you’re looking for a party. It is north of Interstate 30. The Cultural District is a quieter area. That’s why it is seeing new multi-family housing development, while single-family homes in the area are in demand. The area has seen an influx of residents due to the joint University of North Texas and Texas Christian University medical school that opened in 2018. It is unusual as a private medical school, and it is the first in North Texas. Note that this is only an educational institution. You’ll have to go to Cook Children’s Hospital, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, or Baylor Scott and White All Saints Medical Center on the other side of I-30 to get advanced medical care.

This area has an unusually large amount of parkland due to the fact that Trinity Park runs along the Clear Fork of the Trinity River on the eastern edge of the neighborhood. The Fort Worth Japanese Gardens and the Botanical Research Institute of Texas are located here. Then there’s Farrington Field and the sports complex off Lancaster Avenue. However, the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and associated research institute are technically located south of the Cultural District.
