Shaw Clarke Neighborhood In Fort Worth TX

Shaw Clarke Basic Information

Shaw Clarke is a small neighborhood in downtown Fort Worth. (It covers 0.2 square miles.) The latest census said it was home to roughly 1200 people. Its oldest homes are a century old. The area has a mix of small single family homes and newer duplexes and apartment buildings. For example, you can find two and three bedroom homes with anywhere from 1000 to 2000 square feet. The homes are on small lots, but they tend to have mature trees. The neighborhood’s population density is twice that of the city of Fort Worth as a whole. The area
West Biddison Street is its southern border. Shaw Street is the northern edge for the eastern half of Shaw Clark. A set of railroad tracks that are parallel to Cleburne Road several blocks to the west. Henderson Street bisects the neighborhood, and it serves as the boundary for the northwest corner of the neighborhood. West Berry Street is the northern boundary marker for the west side of Shaw Clarke. Beyond that is South Hemphill Heights.
The neighborhood of Rosemont is south of Shaw Clarke. Worth Heights is located to the east of Shaw Clarke, and it separates the neighborhood from I-35 West, also known as Purple Heart Trail. Jennings – May St. Louis is several blocks to the northeast.

Our Lady of Victory Catholic School is one of the major landmarks in the area. This Catholic school is next door to the Victory Arts Center. George C. Clarke Elementary is also located in this neighborhood. Most students are sent to R. L. Paschal High School in the Paschal Area. That can be reached by going west on Berry Street past Cleburne Road / Eighth Avenue. Students often attend Daggett Montessori. That is a public K-8 school.

There are no parks in Shaw Clarke beyond playgrounds next to the schools. The closest major park is located at the intersection of College Avenue and     West Berry Road. Capps Park has playgrounds, picnic areas and tennis courts. If you go west on Woodland, you’ll reach the Victory Forest Community   Center. However, there is a greenbelt park, Victory Forest Park, that runs along Biddison Street. This has walking and biking trails. However, that ends at   Hemphill Street to the east. It continues west to Ryan Avenue. More distant parks in the area include Davis Park and Rosemont Park. If you took Berry   Street east you’d reach Jennings-May-Saint Louis Park. It is significantly smaller than Capps Park.

 Shaw Clarke is the thirty-fifth most walkable neighborhood in Fort Worth. It received a walk score of 55. Note that 50 is average. It received a public   transit score of 37. The main bus routes in the area are along Hemphill Street and Berry Street. It was assigned a bike score of 59. Residents are a twenty   minute drive or forty minute drive to downtown Fort Worth. You’re ten minutes from TCU.
There is a commercial area along Hemphill Street, especially on the southwest corner of Biddison Street and Hemphill Street. There are a number of   commercial and industrial employers several blocks to the east.
