Discover The Real Fort Worth

Located in North-Central Texas, Fort Worth comprises an area of 355.6 mi² or 920.9 km². It is the seat of Tarrant County. It is also the fifth-largest city in Texas and is expected to have a population of over one million in a few years.

The city has an interesting history, and many of its historic buildings have been restored. The city was the final settlement along the Chisholm Trail. The first “long drive” of cattle came through Fort Worth in 1867. During this period, the city became known as Cowtown. However, as interstate highways were built, the importance of Fort Worth dwindled. The city was unable to compete with other towns along the railroads, and the livestock business slowly died off.

The Fort Worth Stockyards are a popular tourist attraction. They were built to capitalize on the growing beef demand in the east. The stockyards are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. They are home to the annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering and the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. They are also host to two NASCAR races in the fall. The Texas Motor Speedway is the largest sporting venue in the state. It hosts several major races throughout the year. The stadium is also the location of the Lone Star Film Festival.

In addition to its famous Stockyards, Fort Worth has several other attractions. The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is another unique attraction. It honors women who have shaped the West. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art is another place to explore. The museum was originally set up to collect works by Frederic Remington, but the collection has expanded to include works by hundreds of artists.

The Bass Performance Hall is another venue for live performances. It is located in the Sundance Square district. The building is a European-style structure named after the donors who financed its construction. The room features an 80-foot-diameter dome. The room is also equipped with a meditation pool and an active pool. The pool uses thousands of gallons of water to spray through forty nozzles every minute.

The Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge is a wonderful place to visit. The center has twenty miles of hiking trails, forests, wetlands, and prairies. It also has an interpretive center. There are educational programs and evening walks. The center is open year-round, with a full calendar of events.

Fort Worth is a great place to see a wide variety of animals. It has hundreds of species from around the world and is the only zoo in the United States that houses all four Great Ape species. It is also the only zoo in the world with two rhino species. It also has a variety of animal habitats that are designed to make the animals happy.
