Christina Contreras was raised in the Rio Grande Valley where she lived minutes from the Mexico-Texas border. Growing up she noticed some of her peer’s faced injustices because they did not have legal status. Her interest in immigrant rights began after she realized some of her neighbors were being exploited by employers. While attending law school at A&M School of Law in Fort Worth, TX the flaws in the existing immigration systems became clearer.
Immigrants must navigate a complex system that most attorneys struggle to understand. They are at a great disadvantage of fighting any case against the federal government without an attorney by their side. As a natural advocate she has spent most of her legal career advocating for the most vulnerable of the immigrant community. She enjoys finding solution for folks to gain legal status in the United States so they can stop living in fear. The more challenging the case the better. She treats legal challenges with courage. She enjoys spending time with her kids and husband, reading Sci-fi books, puzzles, going for walks, and watching comedy.
